Phu Quoc Island is most famous for its miles and miles of spectacular world class beaches. Many beaches are home to impressive world-famous resorts making beach access in some places impossible. However, there are still miles of beaches which are freely accessible to all—both visitors and locals. Unlike the beaches on the east coast of Vietnam most of Phu Quoc beaches are on the west side of the island thereby affording beach goers the reward of a beautiful sunset at day’s end. Additionally, on Phu Quoc’s premiere beaches the water is so calm and crystal clear that bathers feel as though they’re actually floating in a luke warm salt water bath.

Long beach is aptly named as this beach is 20 kilometers of beautiful beaches. Here near Duong Dong there are found many popular bars and restaurants as well as plenty of room for lounging and sun bathing on the popular sections of this beautiful beach.

Further north is Ong Lang Beach, considered by many to be one of the most desirable beaches on the island. A quiet beach with clean white sand and crystal clear clean water which is just far enough away from the annoying crowds and noisy boats but still close enough to visit for the day.

This beach’s best section is just north of Ong Lang Village and is popular with the tourists because of the excellent bars and restaurants who provide their customers with rent free lounges.

Further north is Bai Sau Beach, 25 kilometers north of Duong Dong town, is thought by many to be the most beautiful naturally wild beaches in all of Vietnam. Soft white sand coupled with crystal clear blue water offers complete peace and quiet to the sun loving visitors lounging peacefully on this beautiful serene beach. Here is considered by many to be the perfect place for those seeking peace and beauty in a natural wild setting without the distraction of local hawkers.

The Duong Dong night market is a fun place with great energy, full of hungry diners and busy shoppers every night. A favorite place for many beach goers to eat after a long day of sunning and beaching. Here you will find a large selection of freshly caught sea food appealing to every taste. Pick your desired choice and have it cooked as you enjoy a cold drink while you wait. The variety of food is so complete that there’s something for every budget and taste. Remember to save room for some coconut ice cream—it’s so delicious!

When you’re finished with eating get ready for more fun as you are within easy walking distance or a short taxi ride of several popular bars and night spots located on the shores of nearby Long Beach.

Places like the Drunken Monkey, a European style bar where they speak English while having a great time. The Rabbit Hole Irish Bar, an excellent place for watching sports and playing different bar games like darts and hockey. Rory’s Beach Bar is a perfect location for enjoying special drinks and crazy good music. And Chuon Chuon for a special sunset view, good food and an excellent atmosphere. The view is so good because it’s up a steep hill so take a taxi to be safe.

The park main attraction is the water park which combines a man-made beach with a variety of amusement rides. Thrill seekers love the unique rides such as the Tornado Water Ride, the free-falling Giant Boomerang, the 120-meter high speed slide and the spiral slide.

Phu Quoc Prison Museum serves as a sobering reminder of Vietnam’s difficult past. Also known as Coconut Tree Prison it was used during the American War to hold and torture North Vietnamese soldiers and members of the Vietcong.

The War Museum displays authentic instruments of torture, photographs of prisoners and life-sized mannequins depicting prisoners being held and tortured. An enlightening way to spend an afternoon.

Don’t wait too long.

There’s still time to visit while the island is still natural, before the big resorts take up all the best beaches—but don’t wait to long.

Now is your chance!
